I have always been a huge saver and very frugal with my money so I guess it was just natural to become so thrifty with coupons. I have been using coupons for probably 5 years but more recently really ramped up on the usage and actually started to become a "strategic shopper". With food prices increasing over 20% last year and increasing already up to 10% this year, I decided to challenge myself and see if I could spend less even though prices are increasing and my grocery budget was the same. I thought to myself, If I could spend less on groceries then I could save more money for my budgeted vacation savings fund, give more to the local missions program at my local church, get free items and stock up my local church's food pantry, fulfill Proverbs 31:16 in being a thrifty housewife, and really create a stockpile of stuff in case our economy flopped. It was a win-win situation! So the first week of my crazy couponing adventures, I spent $50 less than my budgeted amount on my weekly grocery needs. I would have to say that was an instant success! No need to be impatient for the savings, it was almost instant gratification and I wanted more. Talk about the potential for getting addicted! Yikes! (I may want to use that sentence as my disclaimer!)
So my goal for this blog is to teach you how to be a strategic shopper by using coupons and sharing my couponing adventures (so you can essentially duplicate what I do at the grocery stores), find great deals online for all kinds of stuff for you and your family, and maybe throw in a few extra fun things like how to become debt free and budget correctly (my financial side coming out), fun kid stuff, how to effectively witness to people about Christ with the plan of salvation (a huge passion of mine!), and soooooo much more!
Sooooooo......... make sure that you subscribe to my blog to receive daily updates on savings, coupons, and all that fun stuff! And if you ever have questions, have at it! I am all about answering them.
I am excited!!
