Tip of the Day 5/9: All About BOGO

Tip of the Day:

Use a Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) coupon in conjunction with a BOGO sale at your local store and get BOTH items for FREE!!! 

As mentioned before, I love getting things for free! The BOGO coupon just puts the icing on the cake for me because there is lil strategery needed with this one: you don't have to do multiple transactions, collect enough Register Rewards or Extra Care Bucks to get the cost down to FREE, or bring multiple copies of other stores ads to price match. You just have to show up with a coupon and presto! You just got something for free!

This post was actually inspired by a question that I got from a super great "fan" of the blog so I thought I would share in case you had the same question in the back of your great minds - thanks RG. She essentially wanted to know how it was possible to get both items free when using a BOGO coupon in conjunction with a BOGO sale at her local Walgreens. First, using them in conjunction with each other is perfectly fine as long as you fulfill the requirement of purchasing the 2 items. Even though the second is "free" you still have 2 of the same items in your transaction. The store would have to honor their sale and the manufacturer coupon. By using the coupon with the sale it is almost like striking out the price of the first item (and your are already getting the second for free). Note: The store isn't giving both to us for "free" on their books (just 1) though because they will get that money from the manufacturer when they send them the coupon for reimbursement. 

I must say this is the only time I really love the concept of double dipping! :)

I personally like to "reserve" my BOGO coupons for the BOGO sales that I see at Walgreens, CVS, and my local grocers Publix and Winn Dixie. By doing this I get them both FREE and walk out just paying sales tax.
